Rush Limbaugh, Champion Douchebag! + MOVIES~!

29 04 2007

Rush Limbaugh has angered many black employees over this parody song called “Barack the Magic Negro”. Stations around the country who carry the show are having concerns expressed by listeners and even their own workers of color about the Obama parody, and the ensuing controversy in the media, and that respective managements are considering ways to address the matter with as little Imus-like backlash as possible.

Go to Crooks and Liars and hear the audio for yourself.

Now that man knows his comedy! You know he’s already been booted from his ESPN  job, and he’s been outed for being a pill-head. If Don Imus can get shit canned for saying “Nappy Headed Ho’s” then Rush can get shit canned for calling Obama “Barack The Magic Negro” and including lyrics that stereotype African Americans as idiots. I don’t think Imus should have lost his job, because I KNOW Limbaugh won’t lose his.

Anyway, MOVIES~! The Summer is looking hot, and here’s what I plan on seeing.

May 4th, 2007 – Spider-Man 3
May 18th, 2007 – Shrek The Third
May 25th, 2007 – Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End
July 13th, 2007 – Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
July 27th, 2007 – The Simpsons Movie
August 3rd, 2007 – The Bourne Ultimatum
August 10th, 2007 – Rush Hour 3

RAMPANT NERDINESS!

Awwwwwww Come On!

28 04 2007

That seems to be the mantra of the day. I’ve been trying to lose weight for what seems like forever now, but it’s really only been a few months. I started strong by eating less, eating smarter, and cutting out things like junk food, and regular soda. However a big part of weight loss, is exercise. This has been a particular pain for me, not because I don’t want to, but because the situation I’m in has made is difficult. More so then usual for someone my size.

For a big guy, the best method to pursue is walk every day. Things like sit-ups and weight lifting, is a form of exercise, and it does burn fat, but not nearly as much as walking will, exercises like that are meant mainly for muscle tone. Well I still have that bone problem in my ankle (made worse by my weight). That makes it hard for me get out and walk every day. If I’m lucky, I can manage once every other day. I can’t use the treadmill we have, because I’m to heavy for it. Today I thought my wishes were answered.

Jen’s parents said that they had an old exercise bike in their basement. This seemed like the perfect solution for me. I can ride a bike a lot longer then I can walk! So I figured it could do that in between the days I went for walks. Well Jen and her brother John brought it over today. It was certainly old, it looked like it was as old as I was. Ugly to boot. However it must have been built for smaller women or something to that effect, and clearly not built to accommodate a six foot one fella like myself. So riding that went out the window.

Jen and I walked down to the store to buy groceries. I am going to try even harder to cut down of how much I eat, and try to walk as often as I can. Hopefully things will get better. I lost twenty pounds in a month, but without the constant exercise I put five back on over the course of last week.

Next week we are going over to my parents for the weekend. Jen and I are going to go see Spider-Man 3~! AWESOME~!! Then I have another surgery for that tail bone cyst problem I’ve been having for years. This is surgery number three. That’s on the 11th. Wish me luck.

Why are Ear Buds so shitty?

27 04 2007

So my headphones went to crap the other day. I had them unplugged from the PC and didn’t seem to notice that the cord was hanging down on the floor. Vacuum got a hold of them, of course I noticed, but it was too late. The cord was yanked straight out of the head piece and fucked up the heard piece quite a bit as well.  So I’m sitting here listening to some Tom Petty on a pair of ear buds. I don’t know how anyone can listen to music on ear buds, the sound quality is so unbearable, it’s like listening to music muffled by a foot of foam padding. The worst. At some point I’ll get some new ones. I’ll just have to wait it out.

Jen worked an eight hour mid shift today, Kayla went over to her parents place around two, and I was left to my own devices it was a pretty dull day. However a bright point, and perhaps the highlight of the week was getting phone call from Matt, all the way from Iraq. It was good to hear from him. He’ll be back on his leave in or around June (I think). He seems to be doing okay. Now if they can just set up his internet connection over there, we’ll be all set.

I posted a new music video in my videos section. You can just click on the “Videos” tab on the top of the page or just go here >> http://anthonyslewis.wordpress.com/video/

Leave me some feedback if you’d like.

Scientists find most Earth-like planet yet.

26 04 2007

WASHINGTON (AP) — European astronomers have found the most Earth-like planet outside our solar system, and here’s what it might be like to live there:

The “sun” wouldn’t burn brightly. It would hang close, large and red in the sky, glowing faintly like a charcoal ember. And it probably would never set if you lived on the sunny side of the planet.

You could have a birthday party every 13 days because that’s how fast this new planet circles its sun-like star. But watch the cake — you’d weigh a whole lot more than you do on Earth.

You might be able to keep your current wardrobe. The temperature in this alien setting will likely be a lot like Earth’s — not too hot, not too cold.

And that “just right” temperature is one key reason astronomers think this planet could conceivably house life outside our solar system. It’s also as close to Earth-sized as telescopes have ever spotted. Both elements make it the first potentially habitable planet besides Earth or Mars.

Astronomers who announced the discovery of the new planet Tuesday say this puts them closer to answering the cosmic question: Are we alone?

I was certainly happy to wake up to this. I know it was mentioned on the news in passing, but I completely forgot about it in the midst of what Seung-Hui Cho ate for breakfast.

Pointless…….I know.

25 04 2007

So at the end of the day I decided to finally say “FUCK MYSPACE”! Well, fuck the blog portion of it anyway. I use to really dig the Live Journal format, but pretty everyone stopped using it, and started blogging on MySpace. I never really dug the MySpace blog set up. Word Press seems to be the new hotness theese days, and I want to jump on board.

Talking to my Mom a few days ago I got word that my Dad might have a decent job lined up for him. Ever since Delphi got rid of him he’s been working a Graff (where I used to work). I’m hoping this thing comes together. They really a boost, and my Dad deserves better then the treatment he got for busting his ass for a decade and a half.

Spiderman 3

Jen’s birthday is rolling around. I am broke as usual, and don’t have anything to get her, as usual. We’re hoping to go see Spiderman 3 before my surgery which is on May 11th.

Issac Mendez - Heroes

Heroes FINALLY came back last Monday. What can I say? I can’t get enough of this show. They’ve even gotten me to care about the Jessica/Nikki angle, which up until know had been a low point in the series for me. This show is highly addictive and I highly anticipate the next episode. I’m not kidding, this show is like crack to Sci-Fi nerds like myself.

HOUSE

Oh yeah. House is still on, and still the fucking man. Last nights episode was very good as always. Season finales for both Heroes and House are now just a couple weeks away. Usually sad moment. However I remain optimistic that the DVD’s will be released by September, and will keep me busy until seasons two and four respectively.
