Alone At Last!

30 06 2007

Jen and I went out to dinner last night. It was the first we were able to go out alone in quite some time. We went over to the wonderful Cracker Barrel we have over here. I can’t get enough of that place. I most definitely can not say enough good things about the service and food there.

Matt and I are FINALLY getting the EPIC server and web site up today. On a related note, FUCK ONE DOLLAR HOST!

My Supercard Of Honor II video will be up in my videos section in a half hour or so from now (11:00 AM).

The Thing About Life

28 06 2007

The power went out last night. As a matter of fact, it was out most of the night. Chillin by candle light was very cool though. I might do that more often, even with the power on.

A man who use to be one of my favorite wrestlers died. I’m sure you have seen it plastered all over the news. I have no respect for the man, NONE! I can’t bare to watch, let alone enjoy anymore of his body of work. I recently wrote the following….

If you can separate the two then go ahead and enjoy. I can’t. What people do in real life supersedes all that they do in pro wrestling, or in movies. The man man killed his innocent seven year old son, but man wasn’t Benoit/Regal 50 starz! If you can do that more power to you I suppose. I feel wrong enjoying anything he did, knowing what he’s done.

In some good news, I got that ROH video finally done. I told Matt before he left, that I would make him a video of his entire “backyard career” as it were. So I’m working on that now.

Kayla got in to her pre-school. She’s excited, and we are freaking out over it. I guess that’s to be expected. We are sooooooo nervous about it. She’ll be fine though. She’s a smart kid, and I think she will do just fine in school.

The Weekend…As It Were

24 06 2007

Really great weekend! Okay, in some respects it was THAT great.  Friday was pretty much the null and void part of the weekend, not a lot went on really. Saturday, however was a different story.

Steve dropped by and hooked me up with my pay day for doing the World-1 DVDs for him, it’s always a pleasure. I love editing, wrestling, and having money, so it’s a dream job, one that I get to do all too rarely.

My brother  stopped by. We had to go over to my parents anyway so it worked out great. We headed over to the water fountain in downtown BC, it use to be the other third street bridge. Kayla always has fun over there.

They had some races for the annual River Roar going on that day as well, so it was cool to see some of that. We went over to the mall to go shopping for my wedding band. There were a few rings that would have been perfect. One was out of our budget, and the other fit perfectly into my budget, but it was a steel band ring. Unfortunately steel bands can not be resized. And I continue to and plan on losing more weight, so sooner or later that ring would be to big for my finger, and I couldn’t get it sized down. So I left without a ring to my great disappointment. It will work itself out though.

We went over to my parents and got done what needed to be done there. We picked up some of the pictures we took a few weeks back and they all turned out nice. And Kayla got to play with my parents new kitten Lucy. She was in love with that before she even saw it in person. She was pretty heartbroken when we had to go back home (LOL).

Today we went to the 10:00am service with Jen’s parents and her nephew Kyle. Kayla’s behavior was EXCELLENT this time around. We went back to their place for some lunch and we chatted things up and watched the kids play outside for a while.

Still working through that ROH video. It’s taking forever. Eventually I will just bare down and finish it. There have also been some issues with getting the EPIC site set up decently, hoping to get those kinks worked out by next week.

Looking forward to the Tigers game tonight. Looking for that sweep!

Losing It? It’s Already Gone Buddy!

22 06 2007

Kayla is being a royal pain today. No idea what’s bugging her, but when she is bugged by something, Jen and I are bugged 10x more as a result. I hope she gets into the school we applied for. She can bug some other people for a change.

I sat down and watched the new Michael Moore movie “SiCKO”

Very fun watch. Much better then Farenheit 9/11. Obviously there are some of the usual lavish Michael Moore overstatements. He makes Canada, England, and France seem like a magical wonderland in comparrison to the United States. Obviously their healthcare systems aren’t perfect. If they are man made then it has flaws in it. We don’t know how to live perfectly, despite ever seeking a way to. I’m of the mindset that we NEED universal healthcare. I understand that the system won’t be perfect, and I understand it can’t be made over night. But i do think it will work, and I think it’s something that is needed for the betterment of our nation.

In other news, I’ve been working on the ROH Supercard Of Honor II music video. This was by far the best pro wrestling show I’ve ever been to live. And I am having the hardst time getting the video done. I think I might very well be nervous that the video won’t reflect how I experienced the event, which is something I strive for when making a recap video. I’ve actually been in a bad mood all day becuase I can’t seem to get this thing finished.

Life Changing Top 5 Part 1 (Albums)

18 06 2007

The top five albums that changed my life…….

#5
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers “Greatest Hits”

Mary Jane’s Last Dance was HUGE on the radio. That’s when I heard Tom Petty for the first time. I picked this up for this song alone. Upon listening to the CD I realized that I have in fact heard A LOT of Tom Petty before. I guess none of the songs stuck with me when I first heard them. I quickly became hooked and a big fan, it ended up being a gateway to another Tom Petty album higher up on the list.

#4 Metallica
“…And Justice For All”

My Uncle Scott got me a tape of this for my birthday in 1990. This totally got me into the Mighty MET! Eventually they became my all time favorite band once I delved further into their catalog. This became a gateway to…….

#3 Metallica “The Black Album”

This changed my life forever (musically of course). This is one of those records I know top to bottom. I know every lyric, every riff, and every Kirk Hammet solo. This album basically sealed Metallica in as my favorite band. To this day they are the only band that I have purchased every release from.

#2 Silver Chair “Frogstomp”

I had a cousin that owned this CD. And she listened to a lot of “cool” music. I asked her to make a copy of it for me (on tape). I would pop it in my walk-man every morning and I’d listen to it on the bus going to and from school, and I’d listen to it during lunch. It was what I was listening to when I met Jenny. Whenever I listen to this It brings me back to that time in my life. But not as much as………..

#1 Tom Petty “Wildflowers”

Bar none my favorite album of all time. Much like “The Black Album”, I know every song from top to bottom. And much like “Frogstomp”, this takes me back to high school. But unlike “Frogstomp” I was obsessed with this album. It brings back so many memories, a lot that didn’t even take place during high school. I’ve had my copy since it came out in 1994, and it’s only grown on me more over the last thirteen years, and I hope it continues to do so.

Day Of The Dad

18 06 2007

Fathers day today. Just about over. It was pretty darn relaxing. Had a good breakfast and a good dinner. Jen’s parents took Kayla for a few hours, and I’ve just been sitting back watching Man vs. Wild!

I can’t get enough of this show. It’s so damn fascinating. And hey, if a guy named Bear Grylls can’t survive in the wild, then nobody can!

My Dad came out here the other day, he helped us restore our air conditioner to it’s former greatness. However I apply the term “greatness” very loosely. We plan on buying a new AC next February. We’ll more then likely move the smaller one up into the bedroom.

OH! Some other cool news as well. VH1 had this show on a while ago called “The World Series Of Pop Culture”. Jen and I really liked that show .

VH1 just announced that they are doing the show again this year! We are really excited to see if the show is as much fun as it was last time. Matter of fact you can read an old LJ posting about how much we loved the show RIGHT HERE.
