I Like Men Now AKA How I spent Sunday!

30 07 2007

My parents stopped by Sunday after church and brought over some stuff for Kayla’s play room. The offered to pick us up some lunch, which turned into them taking us out to lunch at Big Boy’s~! After that they told us that they were having a cook out for dinner later and said we could go over there for dinner as well! That turned out to be a good day.

When we got home Jen and I watched The Simpsons Movie~! I managed to obtain a copy through super secret but totally legal means…………….

It was a really fun watch, it kind of flew by (as an hour and a half movie tends to do). It wasn’t blow away hilarious or the funniest movie I’ve ever seen, but it was a little bit better then I expected.  All in all I would say its worthy of a DVD purchase.

Keepin’ The Kids Happy

28 07 2007

Jenny and I have been having a real hard time with giving Kayla some space of her own. Sure, she has her bedroom, the downside of this is that we live in a two story town house. So when she wants to play in her room she ends up getting into the bathroom, and our bedroom (often with disastrous consequences). So she is wrecking the upstairs, while I’m trying to clean the lower half…… Well….. we finally got tired of that. We cleared out our basement completely and turned it into a play romm for her. We moved all of her toys down there and we even put a a small TV and VCR down there for her to watch movies, eat snacks, and whatever else down there. We also left the couch down there as well so Jen and I can hang out down there when we wish. It’s been working out great! We couldn’t be happier about it.

On a side note, Jenny made some homemade pretzels today………..

Leonard Nimoy To Have Role In New ‘Trek’ Film

27 07 2007

SAN DIEGO, California (AP) — Leonard Nimoy isn’t through with Spock yet.
artnimoyap.jpgThe 76-year-old actor will don his famous pointy ears again to play the role in an upcoming “Star Trek” film due out Christmas 2008. “This is really going to be a great movie. And I don’t say things like that lightly,” Nimoy told a gathering of 6,500 fans Thursday at Comic-Con, the nation’s largest pop-culture convention.

He greeted the crowd with a Vulcan salute.

Nimoy was joined by the newly named young Spock, “Heroes” star Zachary Quinto, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Nimoy.

Both Spocks were introduced by the film’s director and co-producer, J.J. Abrams.

“This is a series I loved as a kid,” Abrams said, acknowledging that he was “more of a ‘Star Wars’ kid than a ‘Star Trek’ kid.”

“This matters so much to so many people,” he said. “I’m honored to be here and do this.” While the character of Captain Kirk has yet to be cast, Abrams said that William Shatner, who played the role in the original TV series, would likely also have a part in the film.

“It has to be worthy, of him and of you,” Abrams told fans, adding that production is slated to begin in November.

One fan asked Nimoy what he thought of his “replacement.”

“It was logical,” the actor said dryly. He then closed with Spock’s classic line: “Live long and prosper.”

As a long term Trek fan, I have to give this a shot. And as a huge Heroes fan, there is just no way I can’t be excited about Sylar playing Spock!

Order Of The Phoneix

22 07 2007

Jen and I went off to see the latest in the on going Harry Potter film series. You know, five years ago if you told me I’d be writing about how much I love the Potter film series you’d have quite the verbal battle on your hands. I use to be of the mindset that the Potter novels were “kids stuff”, and I wouldn’t give them the time of day.

I had the same wonderful philosophy about the film series (which I believe was on the second movie at the time). It wasn’t until the upcoming third film was on it’s way that I gained a slight interest. Out of boredom one day, I asked my brother if I could borrow the first two flicks. And despite being obviously geared towards children, I absolutely loved them both. And I have been a huge fan ever since.

This is the fifth film in the series, and in my opinion, the best, surpassing film three (The Prisoner Of Azkaban) as my favorite. It’s most certainly the most grown up of all the films. I can’t wait for the DVD to come out. Man, do I have a long wait ahead of me or what?

I swear, we are gonna go broke on DVD’s this year. Spider-Man 3, Pirates 3, Order Of The Phoenix, Bourne Ultimatum, The Simspons Movie, House season 3, and Heroes season 1. CRAZY DVD’S!!!!!!!!

Here Comes The Water Works

18 07 2007

So, our washing machine kicked the bucket a few days ago. Our new one came today. Ohhhh but it wouldn’t be fun if the machine was the only thing that showed up today would it? Our basement flooded…….again…..for the third time in two weeks. Plumber came, and went. Got the washing machine in only to learn that it doesn’t work for shit. The only way the cold water will come out is if the the hot water valve is closed off and we have the wash set for warm or hot water……yes you read that right. And once running the water doesn’t come on for the rinse cycle…….. Ahhhhhhh but if you reopen the hot water valve, the water starts to pour in for the rinse cycle, but it’s all hot water…………….. Son of a bitch!

Annnnnnnnnnnnnd that’s pretty much been my day.
