I Hate Baseball Sometimes

30 07 2008

The Tiger’s traded Pudge today…………..TO THE FUCKING YANKEES! Not just that but all they got was one decent bullpen guy. Yeah Pudge isn’t as great as he once was, and yeah his contract was big, it makes sense from a business perspective, from a fan perspective is fucking sucks. It sucks that we live in an era where people don’t play for one team their entire career, and I know Pudge earned his stripes as a Texas ranger but he was a big reason the Tiger’s franchise revitalized. He was Jen’s favorite player. Shit I bought her a Pudge Jersey for her birthday this year.

God damn baseball……………..

Battle Tested

If there is one thing I have learned about going through this kind of surgery, and this experience in general it’s that you have to take it one day at a time. You know…..I know that’s a pretty common saying for someone to hear in my shoes, and I usually don’t take a lot of credence in that sort of stuff, but man has it ever been true to me.

Some days it’s a breeze to get through, the time flies. Some days it’s a struggle. Yesterday was a big day for me. Even though I still can’t walk on both feet, I managed to make it up our fifteen stairs and get into the shower for the first time in a month (sponge bathing before that). I will never take showers for granted ever again. I just sat in there and let the water run for a good ten minutes before I even bothered to start washing up.  Getting up and down the stairs comes with a pretty heavy price, it wreaks some pretty decent havoc on my right knee. However it will be worth it a few times a week to take a shower and sleep in my own bed (something I haven’t done since before the surgery).

I watched The Dark Knight the other day. I wasn’t able to go see it in the theater thanks to my foot, so I had to rely on my high speed internet connection to help me watch a washed out shitty hand held cam job. It was watchable, but just barely. Let’s just say it was watchable enough for me to enjoy it. I’ll say this much, it’s automatically right up there with my favorite movies of all time. I loved the original Batman movies as a kid but grew to loathe them as an adult. However the Christopher Nolan series has breathed new life in to the series.  Just and awesome, AWESOME movie!

The next Epic show is coming in a couple of weeks. I’m real excited to see everyone again, and on paper it’s our best show to date, and it’s the show I’ve been waiting for since we got Stage 1 in motion. It sucks that I will be at the audio table the whole show, I’d really like to hang out with everyone in the back and before the show. Sadly the table and the chair is where I will be planted.

In other news the Tiger’s suck. Better luck next year I suppose. I mean barring some sort of wild and crazy comeback. However the Tiger’s M.O. this year has been “WE ARE A DOORMAT FOR NO TEAM!!! ……….. FOR A FEW GAMES…………………Then………..doormat………”

What A Difference A Few Days Can Make

19 07 2008

I am feeling better. I haven’t taken any pain medication in three days, and I even managed to sleep for five hours last night, that is a brand new record, one that I am extremely proud of.

I use to pride myself on not needing a lot of sleep, and being a bit of a “night owl”. But I haven’t had more then two hours of sleep per night since the week of the surgery, which we are nearing the one month anniversary of.

Not everything is coming up roses. I haven’t even had a chance to think about the next Epic show (less then a month away), I still need help to do a lot of things, I can’t yet walk on my own two feet, my hands still aren’t the same, plus there is a high probability that I will be missing out on The Dark Knight, Hellboy II, and a few other flicks I wanted to see.

I am busy though. I’m starting to catch up with the Epic work, plus I am putting together a site for Ohio’s Hybrid Wrestling.

We got our first laptop as well. I need it for school (I can only sit at the computer for a limited amount of time). It’s a real nice lappy, but came way to loaded with features for what we really needed it for (running Microsoft Office), but i guess you can’t buy a computer anymore without it being loaded with crap.

My Hell

14 07 2008

So here I am……..Finally back at home. I’m just barely able to sit at the computer and do work is short bursts. A far cry from what I was expecting.

Way back on the 26th I went in for my surgery. The trip down there went fine, all the prep went fine. I wake up from surgery with no movement in either of my arms from the elbows down to my hands. The nerves were stretched. Think having you foot fall asleep and not regaining feeling for a few days.

I had to stay at the hospital for four days and three nights. I had to do rehab to make sure my arm strength would allow me to get around.

Then I spent two weeks living at my parents place recovering. All the while missing home and my family.

Went for my two week check up a few days ago. All is well I guess. They put me in a walking boot, which I am still not aloud to walk in, and it’s wholly uncomfortable. Jen passed out in the in the room with me, which scared the shit out of me. We had to take her to emergency at UOFM. We were there all night. She is okay.

This sucks. All of it. My foot hurts so I’m taking off, not nearly as long as I wanted this to be……….
