On the Eve Of All Things Hallow

29 10 2008

Slowly approaching Halloween. Kayla hasn’t had the best behavior recently, she is currently on the road to earning her Tick-or-Treat rights back. Assuming she does that, Jen and I are going to see Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling”. We wanted to see it last week, that was before I realized it opened in limited release last week, it opes in wide release on Friday.

Heroes was awesome on Monday. More twists and turns this week, but the pieces are starrting to come together. I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out, but from the first season they have used this “the world is ending” catch all storyline that has encompassed everything they’ve done so far. I am hoping to see something different for the rest of the season, or at the very least looking forward to something new in season four.

Why there aren’t more people talking about House is beyond me. Tonights episode was soooooooo good. This show seems to go to a new level each and every season. Seiing what becomes of a possible House/Cuddy relationship is of high interest to me.  It pains me to wait two weeks for a new episode!

Less Than Expected

That pretty much sums up how I felt about the show on Friday night. I’m sure there are some things that play in to all of this. The current economic environment sucks, and the fact that we had to change the show wasn’t a help either. We had our smaller crowd since the first show, and while everyone was pretty much into the show, it was certainly a let down. The plus side is that we sold out our stock of DVD’s from the last show, so we had extra money to put forth the next show which appears to be in early December.

The show itself in the ring was pretty good. Maybe the best in ring show we’ve done. I am still hoping that the look of the shows increases, something just seemed “off” the whole night for me.

In unrelated news, the Rays are down 3-1 to the Phillies. It appears that I will be 0-3 in my WS picks since 2006. Worst! At least Heroes is on tonight, I have that to look forward to.

Another Life Saved By Girl On Girl Action

22 10 2008

Gosh! With all our debt paid off what are we to do? Well Heroes was on Monday….we watched that.

I was actually pretty in the middle on this episode. Hiro and Ando has some hilarious moments with “African Issac” but it just sort of went by so fast. You won’t hear me say (or see me type) that it was a bad show. It just sort of wizzed by for me.

House last night was really awesome once again. This show never ceases to amaze me in the little things it does (at least for me).

Some of the focus last night was on House and Wilson being best buddies again. Now the thing that never ceases to get me is that this show always leans you towards wanting to see House make some sort of emotional breakthough, or something drastic to happen so it forces a change in his life. When they do it though all we want is to see him back where he was before. It makes the viewers feel like enablers in some exosential way. This show is truly brilliant in my eyes, and I hope it never ends, or atleast ends well.

In other news, game one of the World Series is tonight. I shall be checking in on it from time to time. The next Epic show is this Friday, and I couldn’t care less.

You Could Have Been President. Fuck You.

The weekend has come and gone. The foot is feeling slightly better, day by day. We finally erased all debt today! YES~! Finally things are not looking as shitty as they once were.

Yesterday Jenny and I took Kayla to my parents place for the day. Jenny and myself also went to see W. with my brother.

This was a darn good movie. It’s going to do horrible box office though. It was a pretty unbiased and straight laced look at at his life. It was most definately a character study, and humanized “W”. You certainly felt like he would be a fun guy to hang out with, and there are points where you certainly feel for him, and yet this is not done to such an extent where it really excuses him or the people he surrounded him with.

Oh yeah and what’s this????

RAYS WIN! RAYS WIN! RAYS WIN! RAYS WIN! Now on to the World Series where the Phillies now face the curse of the well rested team. The Tigers were well rested in 2006 after demolishing the Yankess and A’s only to be squashed by the Cards (who played a long hard series with the Mets and got virtually no break). Last year the Rockies dominated the first two rounds only to lose to the Red Sox who got virtually no break after beating the Indians. Fortuantely for me the team on the positive side of this curse is the team I a rooting for this year!

‘Star Trek’: New Movie, New Vision

16 10 2008

Aboard a monstrous and gloomy interstellar cruiser — part Death Star, part Mordor — the man who would be the next captain of the starship Enterprise finds himself under fire from bald, blue-tatted alien brawlers. At the moment, James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), the hotheaded, horndog hero of Star Trek, is still a fresh-faced space cadet. At his side is his young half-human, half-Vulcan BFF, Spock (Zachary Quinto), looking quintessentially Spocky with his black bowl cut, slanting eyebrows, and blue smock. Here on the set of director J.J. Abrams‘ $150 million bid to bring Gene Roddenberry’s beloved sci-fi world back to the big screen, the two geek pop icons have infiltrated a Romulan warcraft only to see their mission explode into a raging phaser fight. No longer are their signature Trek weapons boxy plastic toys, but sleek silver gizmos with spring-triggered barrels that revolve and glow in the transition from ‘’stun” to ”kill.” Problem is, every time Kirk raises his newfangled ray gun, the barrel revolves too early. Or too late. Or not at all. Giggles and unprintable curses fly. Someone lightens the mood with a quip: ”Most illogical, captain.”
